About the artist Virginia "Ginny" Hayward currently resides in Great Falls, Virginia. She was born and raised in a suburb of Chicago. After graduating from Purdue, Virginia taught science for four years at both the high school and junior high levels. Taking an early retirement to raise a family, she then had the time to pursue a long-time interest in art.

For over twenty-five years, Virginia has experimented with a variety of media including batik, watercolor, oil and handmade paper. She has participated in many seminars with nationally known teachers. She has exhibited and sold her work locally and at Wintergreen resort. She has pictures in private and corporate collections in the U.S. and abroad.
Virginia is an artist member of the Virginia Watercolor Society and the Potomac Valley Watercolorists. She is also one of four artists featured in the October 2002 edition of élan magazine. Virginia can be contacted at vkhayward@cox.net.
