KnightKing Arthur Stories
When I was nine or ten my sister gave me an illustrated "King Arthur" storybook. These were not your standard fairy book drawings, but lavish, full color, medieval-style oils. I think I wanted to paint for a living from that moment on, and a lot of my early work featured knights and castles and prancing destriers.

Sir Goldenhair

Fairy Tales
More knights! One of several illustrations for "Sir Goldenhair and the Black Horse," which is actually two fairy tales merged into one. I'm not sure which influence is strongest in this drawing, Kay Nielson or Hayao Miyazaki.

Little Snow Bear

Bulletin Boards
One of my favorite assignments back when I worked for the library system was coming up with seasonal designs for the bulletin board. Alas, this cheerful little bear is about all that remains of those happy days.

Accomplished back in the dinosaur days when everything was done with press type and freehand drawings. I think it holds up remarkably well. Who sez you need a computer?
